Backup & restore
Since there are no accounts, a table only exists as long as you keep its manager key. Export Backup gives you a portable copy of everything in a table, and Restore Backup turns that copy back into a working table.
Export Backup
On the manager dashboard, click Export Backup. It downloads a JSON file named like {table_name}_backup_{date}.json containing the entire table: its name, description, methodology and settings; every initiative (including tags, costs, and archived ones); every voter's name and email; every submitted score or vote for the table's methodology; comments; and, where relevant, Weighted Decision Matrix criteria or Paired Comparison vote history.
Exporting doesn't change or remove anything — the original table keeps working exactly as before.
Restore Backup
Restoring creates a new table from a backup file — it does not overwrite or reconnect to the table the backup came from. Go to /setup and choose Restore from Backup:
- Upload the backup JSON file. You'll see a preview of the table name and methodology.
- Set a new manager password (at least 6 characters) for the restored table — the original password isn't carried over.
- Submit. You're redirected to the new table's manager login page.
What carries over
Restored
- Table name, description, methodology, and Buy a Feature budget
- All initiatives — titles, descriptions, tags, costs, order, and archived status
- Voters' names and emails
- All submitted scores and votes, including comments
- Weighted Decision Matrix criteria and per-criterion scores
- Paired Comparison vote history
Not carried over
- The manager key — a new one is issued, so you'll need the new URL
- Voter links — each voter gets a brand-new access token, so old links stop working and must be re-shared
- The manager password — you set a new one during restore
- The voter password — not set on the new table; set it again if you need one
- Public results sharing — turned off on the new table, even if it was on before
